No hot water? 3 quick ways to get your hot water system working again

There’s nothing worse (especially in winter) than having no hot water. Before you do anything, check out our top 3 tips below:

1. If a gas system check that the pilot light is lit. Relight if needed.

2. If your unit is a Saxon hot water unit, lift up the filler valve at the top of the unit. This will fill up for a couple of minutes. When you see water exiting the overflow pipe the unit is full.

3. Maybe you need a licensed electrician? Lift the relief valve at the top of the hot water system and test the temperature of the water coming from the drain. If cold, there is an issue with your element thermostat of the hot water system.

Lift relief valve at top of the unit. Check the temperature of the water coming from the overflow drain. If water is cold then there is an electrical issue and you need to engage the help of a licenced electrician.

Check the switchboard as the safety switch may have tripped.

If the water in the hot water system is hot, then the issue would be a tempering valve. This valve may need to replaced by a licensed Plumber. Gas Unit Check the pilot light is lit.
